What does an emerald look like/how to identify an emerald?

The green colour is obviously characteristic for an emerald. This gemstone is transparent In its purest form. Small imperfections (called 'inclusions') give emeralds a cloudy look. The English word ‘emerald’ can cause confusion in other languages due to the term, ‘emerald cut’. This is a cut style for gemstones that was originally applied to emeralds.
