If someone tells you about a round diamond, they will probably mean the round brilliant with 57 facets. The round cut is the most popular diamond cut and of all diamonds sold worldwide, the amount of round brilliant is estimated at 75 per cent. This round cut generally has a better shimmering than the fancy cuts. Because of the high demand for this diamond shape and the relatively high weight loss during the cutting process, the price per carat is significantly higher than with other, fancy cuts.
