Everyone loves these gorgeous, sparkly gemstones, but you might be wondering where diamonds come from? The first diamond mines were found in India, but now they are scattered all across the world, with mines in Australia, Africa and Canada. They are formed deep under the earth’s crust under high pressure and temperature and reach the earth’s surface in kimberlite.
The two largest diamond stores in the world can be found in Russia and Botswana, with 650 million and 350 million carats respectively. However, Russia and Australia are the biggest producers of diamonds in the world.
