Point

In order to express the weight of a diamond, the unit of measurement that is used is ‘carat’. One carat is exactly 0.2 grams. Furthermore, one carat is subdivided into points whereby one point is equal to one hundredth of a carat. Especially when the diamond’s weight is less than one carat, we use the smaller measuring unit ‘points’. For example, if someone talks about a diamond of fifty points, then you know that he is telling you about a diamond of a half carat, which is approximately 5,2 millimetres.
