Buying diamonds in the form of these boots will be tricky. The black leather boots, covered with 38,000 grey, pink and champagne coloured diamonds, cost an unbelievable €2,343,428. This has made these the most expensive shoes in the world. Even though they already rose to fame in December 2013, they are just as impressive 5 years later as they were then.

Who designed the diamond boots?
The impressive boots are the result of 30,000 hours of craftsmanship by the designers’ duo A.F. Vandevorst. Their original trade was in the fashion world. So diamonds were a new medium, but that certainly wasn’t evident from their beautiful work. However, the team didn’t need the boots to gain fame. They had been travelling the world for decades and had been admired for their versatile talents in every corner of the art world. Fashion couture, installation art and travelling guerrilla shops are just some of the areas which firmly put the duo on the map.
It’s therefore no surprise they were the ones to represent our country at one of the most important design events in the world a few years ago.
What was the purpose of the unique footwear?
The extraordinary diamond boots were not intended as a new way of buying diamonds, but as a contribution to the renowned Business of Design Week in Hong Kong. The annual event has been bringing together promising designers and influential business people from all corners of the globe, in order to raise innovation and design up to a higher plane. The shoes reflected Belgium’s innovative and enterprising spirit, with Antwerp diamonds as the showpiece.
Where can I find diamonds in Hong Kong?

The Asian market has experienced significant growth for years where luxury goods, jewellery and buying diamonds are concerned. BAUNAT naturally wanted to form part of this growth.
