The solitaire ring is a ring with a single central gemstone. Other jewellery can sometimes also be referred to with the term ‘solitaire’ when they feature one single diamond or other gemstone. The solitaire ring is the most traditional and definitely the most popular type.
The prong setting is most commonly used with the solitaire diamond ring. The prongs which hold the diamond in place are in an open position and let in the most light of all of the different settings. It can be used with most diamond shapes and is available in various different finishes.
The tension setting is a sleek and modern setting for the solitaire diamond ring. The diamond is given grooves along the side with laser inscription and is clamped into the precious metal of the ring. It stays in place due to tension. BAUNAT does not recommend this setting.
