The claw setting or prong setting actually has claws around the stone. A prong setting clamps the diamond in place with three, four or six prongs. With a claw setting with four prongs, the diamond appears quite square, whereas a setting with six prongs is ideal for emphasizing a rounder shape. A pear-shaped diamond is again fixed with three prongs. Unlike the bezel setting, the centre stone is fully exposed in a prong setting. The diamond therefore reflects a lot of light, thus creating a beautiful sparkle.
