What Makes Tension Set Diamond Rings So Unique?

Wondering what makes tension set diamond rings stand out in the world of fine jewelry? At BAUNAT, we offer these extraordinary pieces that create the illusion of a diamond floating between two metal elements, held solely by tension force. This innovative design allows maximum light to reach the diamond from all angles, enhancing its natural brilliance and creating a spectacular sparkle.

Tension settings are perfect for showcasing high-quality natural diamonds and other resilient gemstones with a hardness of 9 or above. While these contemporary art pieces require careful handling and precise sizing (as adjustments aren't possible after creation), they deliver unmatched elegance and a modern aesthetic.

For added visual impact, consider combining a tension setting with pavé diamonds along the band. This pairing creates a truly unique ring that reflects individuality while maintaining the distinctive floating gem appearance that makes tension settings so remarkable.

Deconstructing the Tension Setting

Ring with tension setting - BAUNAT
The beauty of a tension setting lies in the ingenious construction where the diamond is secured between two precious metal elements by the sheer force of tension. Seemingly floating amidst fine metal, the diamond reflects a modern, contemporary aesthetic. The design lets the diamond capture a surfeit of light from all angles, enhancing its luminous sparkle. This setting is best suited for resilient stones registering 9 or above on the Mohs hardness scale, like our high-quality natural diamonds, sapphires, and rubies.

Embracing the Aesthetics - Pros and Cons of Tension Setting

Tension setting rings spell sheer elegance. Unhindered by metal encasement, the diamond reflects maximum light, taking the centre stage in the jewellery.
Choosing a tension setting ring is akin to opting for a piece of modern art. However, they can be delicate. The diamond, exposed, may require extra care against external factors. While the setting remains secure, it's essential you are aware of the precise ring size as post-production size alterations aren't feasible with tension-setting rings.

Elevating the Elegance - Tension Setting with a Twist

Tension settings demand diamonds of higher carat weight, resulting in a pricier piece. To counterbalance this, and enhance visual appeal, consider pairing a tension setting with a pavé setting, a ring band 'paved' with smaller diamonds.
In choosing the perfect setting that reflects your style, ensures wearability, and safeguards your diamond, don't hesitate to consult our expert personal service at BAUNAT.
