There will be a highly awaited second royal wedding this year. That of Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York and Mr Jack Brooksbank. Princess Eugenie is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.
Tip: Curious about how Princess Eugenie and her groom looked? Admire her fairytale wedding day here.
Before we talk about the details of Princess Eugenie’s halo ring and wedding, we would like to remember another Grande Dame who bore the same elegant name, Empress Eugenie. Eugenie comes from the Greek language and means ‘nobility’.
Empress Eugenie was Empress of France in the 19th century and was most famous for her love for jewellery. We believe that Empress Eugenie would have certainly loved the uniqueness of Princess Eugenie’s wonderful sapphire engagement ring, which we are about to share with you below.

A winter proposal with a stunning halo ring
After seven years of dating, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank decided to make their union official by announcing to the world that they were getting married. The Royal family shared the news that the couple had become engaged earlier that month in Nicaragua in an official letter on the 22nd of January.
Jack Brooksbank proposed with a stunning halo ring. A beautiful Padparadscha sapphire surrounded by a halo of diamonds, all set on a gold band. An interesting fact about this ring is that it was apparently designed by the young couple themselves, but it closely resembles the engagement halo ring that was given to the Duchess of York when Prince Andrew proposed. The only difference is that Prince Andrew had chosen a Burmese ruby as the centre stone of the ring.
A unique autumn wedding
The date has been announced and the royal couple will be married on October 12th in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, just like Prince Harry and Meghan did just a few months ago.
Getting married in the autumn is a wonderful time of the year, as it is the time when summer has ended, but winter is not there yet. It is the season of the ‘Indian summer’, which is when nature offers a wonderful palette of warm colours and the atmosphere becomes cosy and romantic in a subtler way than the more popular summer wedding season.
An autumn wedding promises a warm theme and a unique atmosphere. In fact, it is becoming increasingly popular for couples to choose the autumn months for their big celebration day.
The details of the royal wedding are not yet known. But we are certain the day will be filled with laughter and emotions when the couple will say: “I do”, it will be filled with romance with the carriage ride around Windsor after the ceremony. But most of all, it will be filled with love and great festivities.
