A chain or a collier are the highlight of a formal evening outfit, with no other piece of jewellery catching the eye at a ball, a visit to the opera, or a party, quite so much as a necklace.

A good example is this rejuvenating necklace with 20.10-carat diamonds. A truly classic diamond collier, that impresses less through fashionable extravagance, and more through the beauty of the processed diamonds. A real eye-catcher, yet timeless at the same time.
Opulent luxury is particularly popular in the USA, with one example of this being the “A Heritage in Bloom” necklace, which jeweller Wallace Chan spent more than 47,000 hours producing by hand. In addition to other precious stones, it contains 619 predominantly pink diamonds – a masterpiece with a price to match, at 200 million US dollars. Not the most expensive necklace in the world, but one of the most valuable pieces of jewellery in recent decades
What should I bear in mind when purchasing a luxury necklace?
4 quality criteria define the value of diamonds, which are also referred to as the 4 Cs of diamonds. Carat, colour, clarity, and cut. The bigger a diamond is, and the better it performs in the other three areas, the more rare, and consequently the more expensive it will be.
This raises the question as to whether a piece of jewellery should be purchased primarily with a view to making a good investment, or “just” as a piece of jewellery. It is primarily diamonds of the highest quality that are considered suitable as an investment, in particular those with the popular brilliant cut.
The following rule of thumb applies: A luxurious collier, an elegant pendant, or a luxurious necklace certainly needs to be affordable. The only diamonds you should avoid are those of low quality, often referred to as Piqué diamonds, which feature severe, dark inclusions that are visible to the naked eye – even if you are offered one at a tempting price.
