Platinum is naturally grey-white
An important advantage of platinum is the natural (grey) whiteness. The precious metal has a naturally grayish-white color. By comparison, white gold often gets a layer of rhodium, for a whiter and more radiant finish. However, this layer fades over time, which causes a yellowish appearance to white gold diamond rings. For platinum this is not the case.
Platinum can be restored
As a result of the natural density and the sustainability of this precious metal, platinum rings can very easily be restored to their original glory. By polishing platinum rings, they regain their beautiful luster. This is the reason why there are still so many vintage pieces in circulation. Buyers of antique rings do not have to despair when the precious metal shows some scratches. Experts can perfectly restore them.
Platinum is pure luxury
Not only the shape and the beauty are decisive factors when buying diamond rings in platinum. When holding a platinum ring for the first time, you will immediately notice its weight. Platinum is a heavy precious metal: about one-third heavier than 18 carat (white) gold. Because of the grey-white colour of the metal, the diamonds will sparkle even more, which makes the ring appear even more luxurious.
Platinum is strong
Platinum scratches easily. This does not mean that the precious metal is not strong enough. Quite the contrary! Platinum is pretty hard to bend/forge, making it a great choice to set it with diamonds and/or gems. It keeps the stones in place more firmly than any other precious metal. Its firmness is the cause that platinum is often recommended for men's rings, but also a platinum wedding ring for women is equally elegant as a golden one.
Platinum is rare
And things that are rare, are expensive. Platinum rings are very valuable and therefore not cheap. The global demand for platinum increases constantly, and not only for the manufacturing of jewellery. Nowadays we can also find small amounts, for example, in our mobile phones.
Platinum is hypoallergenic
Diamond rings in platinum are perfect for people with allergies or sensitive skin. Especially for those who wear it daily, such as your engagement or wedding ring. One requirement is that you keep the ring clean. Occasional cleaning with hot soap water and a soft brush is a must.
