Color Grading

This is about the color grading system of diamonds which is based on how colorless they are for white diamonds or their spectral tint and their purity and intensity of color for fancy colored diamonds.  The three internationally recognized gem grading laboratories GIA, HRD and IGI all use a grading system where D is the highest (most colorless) and Z the lowest (yellowish) color. Evidently this system is for white or colorless diamonds only. Grading fancy colored diamonds usually starts with identifying the color and then grading its intensity.
