A short history of bracelets

[Jewellery] should tell a story about the person who’s wearing it
Bracelets in their most basic form have existed for millennia. In Ancient Egypt, they were fashioned out of wood, bones and stones for religious purposes. After the Bronze Age, they began to be made out of gold and silver.

During the Middle Ages, bracelets fell out of fashion, particularly for men. Once the 14th century arrived, methods for cutting gemstones were found, and diamonds were used in various items of jewellery.

There was a European revival of bracelets in the 17th century when women began to wear them as fashion accessories. In the Victorian Era, charm bracelets were in vogue.

In the 20th century, the ornate designs of the previous century gave way to the flashy fashions of Art Deco. Bakelite and plastic became popular materials with which to produce jewellery in the 1930s. Gold-plated brass or sterling silver charm bracelets came back into fashion in the 1950s, but by the 1970s, women wanted more variety of choice. This trend for picking a design to suit your style has continued to the present day.
