When thinking of Art Deco jewellery, most people see abstract forms, glamour and timeless elegance. The Art Deco style movement emerged in the 1920s and 30s when women no longer had the urge to embellish themselves with diamond tiaras and other statement jewellery, as they did in the Victorian era. Instead, they wore long necklaces, earrings and headbands to compensate for their ever-shorter dresses. It was a decadent time full of geometrically cut diamonds, both colourless and coloured. Geometric Shapes

Art Deco engagement rings are known for their geometric shapes (triangles, squares, rectangles) of both the processed diamonds and the alloys. These shapes are the main characteristic of this movement. If you would like to buy an Art Deco engagement ring, baguettes are perfect, but the emerald-cut is also suitable for this style. Please note that rectangular shapes do not have such a pronounced brilliance and shine slightly less than a round diamond but are no less beautiful. The brilliant cut was also popular, though you can no longer compare it with today's modern variant.

Contrasting Colours

Usually, Art Deco engagement rings also feature coloured diamonds and/or gems. You can also choose to combine several contrasting colours with colourless or white diamonds. In this decadent period, there was an abundance of diamonds, radiant in a white gold or platinum Art Deco setting.
